Eating Green

I've been seeing this on some of the blogs I visit and decided to give it a try. After all, what could it hurt. They are called green smoothies. They are anything but green, but they really are delicious. I know my family and you are all wrinkling up your noses as you read this. Stop it!! After all, what can it hurt to try it. You just might like it and it's a great way to get those greens into your body and into those kids. You can make your own combinations, but this is what I did: 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 banana peeled, cut into pieces and frozen, 1 cup packed spinich and 1/2 cup juice or water. For the banana haters in my family, omit the banana and put a TBS of honey instead. You can use any berries or more than one kind of berry. You can use watermelon for the juice. use Kale (a better source of vitamins than spinach). Use your own imagination, but make sure you put plenty of green in the mix. Here is a really good green soup recipe: 2 cloves of garlic sauteed. 2 cups chicken broth, 2 cups potatoes diced, 2 cups spinach, 2 cups kale, 1/2 cup parsley. Cook the potatoes until tender. Add the greens and cook about 10 minutes. Blend in the blender and add salt to taste. It's good, I promise. Even the kids will like it. Eat Healthy and have fun.
